We are deeply saddened to announce that David L. Galbraith passed away on March 27, 2026 in Cedar Rapids after a battle with a short illness. Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4 pm until 7:00 pm at Cedar Memorial Park State Room in Cedar Rapids. An 11:00 am Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

David Lee was born on April 24, 1947 in Cedar Rapids to Melvin Howard and Florence (James) Galbraith. He was the youngest of 3 children in the family. David enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served during the Vietnam War as a Specialist 5. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he enrolled at UNI in Cedar Falls and graduated with a degree in Business.

David worked with his dad for many years and upon his dad's retirement became owner of Approved (Synergy) Lighting Company in Cedar Rapids. He sold the company in the mid-90s. During his working years in the70s, David was a renowned racquetball player winning one State title. He was a member of the Retired Veterans, went on fishing trips to Lake Superior with good friends, and for recreation closer to home he played golf at Tara Hills. He enjoyed tending to his beautiful farm in Keystone, Iowa where he raised many beloved dogs and maintained his swimming pool, which was the site of many family gatherings. David found great happiness in his love of travel and took many trips to China, Vietnam, and Thailand. But above all, family was first and foremost in his heart.

David is survived by his children, Suzanne (Brian) Guider of Cedar Rapids and Jonathan (Ali) Galbraith of Atkins; grandchildren William and Brooks Guider, Carsen and Hazel Galbraith; siblings Gary (Jacquelyn) Galbraith of Ellensburg, WA and Carol (Gary) Klouda of Medford, OR; niece Anna (Geoff) Loomis and nephews Eric (Karen) Galbraith, Alex (Jennifer) Galbraith and Peter (Brooke) Klouda; and his dog Lizzie. David is preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. Please make checks payable to Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. They may be mailed to Jon Galbraith at 105 Pheasant Ave., Atkins, IA 52206.
