Surrounded by her loving family, Teresa Marie Wutzke, 58, of Traer, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Sunrise Hill Care & Rehab Center in Traer, after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2026 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton.

Teresa was born on March 26, 1968, in Vinton, the daughter of Wayne and Catherine (Pokorney) Wutzke. She attended Washington High School in Vinton and later continued her education at Hawkeye Community College and Kaplan University, earning a degree in accounting. She was married in 1998, 
and during this marriage, she was blessed with a stepson, daughter-in-law, and five beautiful grandchildren who were the joy of her life.

Teresa spent much of her working life in factory work within the manufacturing and packing industry.She also worked in retail and as a casino cashier. She retired in 2024 due to being disabled.

Teresa had a love for simple joys in life and especially enjoyed gardening, baking, fishing, arts and crafts, playing Bingo, and card games. Teresa cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and the love she shared with those around her.

She is survived by her mother, Catherine Jones of Traer; sisters, Lori (Stephen) Littlefield of Ogden, UT, Candy Martinez of Clutier, and Stacie (Jose) Buenrrostro of Traer; daughter-in-law, Rosana Alvarez of Marshalltown; five grandchildren, Alex, Mariana, Malenya, Samuel, and Hector Jr. Alvarez, all of Marshalltown; as well as several other family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Wutzke, who passed while serving our country when Teresa was 2 years old; her stepfather, Mearl Jones Jr, who raised her since age 7; her maternal and paternal grandparents; brother-in-law, Omar Martinez Sr.; seven aunts; and two uncles.

Memorials may be directed to the family for an established memorial fund.
