Obituaries : Harrisetta “Lee” Gibbs

Harrisetta “Lee” Gibbs, 90, of Vinton, died Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.  Private family services will be held at a later date. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Lee and her family.

Harrisetta Lee Tharp was born February 18, 1936, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Harris and Netha Tharp. She received her education in the Vinton area. In 1954, she was united in marriage to John Edmond Gibbs. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1998.

Lee dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her small dog, Pip, and most of all, cherished time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Timothy (Theresa) Gibbs of Anamosa; four grandchildren, Dustin (Lauren) Gibbs, Seth (Stephanie) Gibbs, Tim Gibbs Jr., and Robert (Brittany) Gibbs; nine great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Carol Gibbs of Vinton and Sheryl Gibbs of Waterloo; her sister, Bobett (Lyle) Resse of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Danny and John Jr. Gibbs; and her sister, Rosemary (Kenneth) Williams.

A memorial fund has been established in Lee’s name.
