Cindy was born on April 21, 1955, in Marengo, IA, the daughter of Norman and Doris (Wiebold) Wolter. She graduated from Williamsburg High School with the Class of 1973. After high school, Cindy worked various jobs before finding her calling as the owner and operator of Cindy’s Shining Star Daycare, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and dedication.
Cindy was first married to Fred Hahn, together they welcomed two children. She later married Ewing Broadwater, and one child was born to that union. Though the marriages ended, Cindy’s devotion to her family never wavered.
Known for her caring heart, Cindy was always looking out for others—especially the children and families she served. Her compassion led her to become a foster parent, and she later adopted Adrianna.
Cindy enjoyed swimming and water aerobics, shopping, listening to oldies music, and traveling with her family to Denver, Colorado, and Destin, Florida. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who were the true joy of her life.
She was a faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Cindy is survived by her mother, Doris Maas of Williamsburg; daughters, Heather (Bob Hosier) Hahn of Atkins, IA, Holly (Ed) Barrett of Austin, TX; daughter-in-law, Sarah Hahn of Atkins; grandchildren, Ben and Vivian Hahn, Clayton, Oliver, and Annabelle Barrett; stepgrandchildren, Elizabeth and Amanda Barrett; brother, Reed Wolter of Gainesville, FL; and many more loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Wolter; son, Jason Hahn; stepfather, Carl Maas; and grandson, Timothy Hahn.
The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to all who cared for Cindy over the years, with special gratitude to her longtime friends J.B. Broadwater and Charlie Schwarz for their enduring love and support.
