Obituaries : Elaine Dee (Kahler) Lee

Elaine Dee (Kahler) Lee, 82, of Mount Auburn, died on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Elaine was born on July 13, 1943 in Vinton, the daughter of Lawrence and Lois (Miller) Kahler. She graduated from La Porte City High School in 1961.

Elaine married John Lee on June 30, 1963 at the Methodist Church in La Porte City. During their 62 year marriage on the farm they raised three children. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished.

She was a mother, homemaker, piano and organ teacher and also worked as a bank teller at Cedar Valley Bank and Trust in La Porte City.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City where she served as the organist for over 60 years. She was a member of the La Porte City Women's Club and was honored as Woman of the Year in 2010.

Elaine is survived by her husband, John; son, Marty (Jessi) Lee of Hills; two daughters, Allison (Milan) Finchum of Kyle, TX, and Melani (Erik) Morgan of Hot Springs, AR; two grandchildren, Madeline Elaine (Abby Knedlick) Finchum, and Keno Finchum both of Austin, TX; brother, Denny (Sandy) Kahler of La Porte City; and many nieces and nephews.

Services: 11:00 AM on Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Paul United Methodist Church-La Porte City, La Porte City.

Visitation: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City.

Memorials may be directed to the family who will donate to St. Paul United Methodist Church and will set up a music scholarship fund at Union High School.
