Joshua “Josh” Morris, 48, of Martelle, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the funeral home. Full military honors will be accorded by the US Coast Guard Honors Detail.

Josh was born on January 29, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Marlene (Lucas) Morris. He was a graduate of Nevis High School in Nevis, Minnesota, and went on to serve honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1995 to 1999. On March 26, 2007, Josh was united in marriage to Amanda J. Derr in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the time of his death, Josh was attending the University of Dubuque and would have graduated with his degree in May 2026. He was a parts and apparel manager at McGrath Power Sports.

Josh was a former reserve police officer with the Oelwein Police, the past president and coach of the Mt. Vernon Archery Club, a volunteer for soccer, baseball, marching band, or any of his children's activities. Josh’s greatest joys in life were being able to ride motorcycles side by side with his daughter, Andy, supporting and guiding his son, Paul, in his superior archery skills, and sharing a love and talent for art with his daughter, Riley. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Josh is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Amanda of Martelle, Iowa; three children, Andy, Paul, and Riley Morris; parents, John Morris of Oklahoma, and Marlene Lucas of Minnesota; brother, Austin Lucas of Minnesota; sister, Jessica Potter of Shellsburg, Iowa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; niece, Iva Potter; aunt, Kathleen Lucas; and uncle, George Lucas.
