Francis A. Mally, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Winslow Care Center, Marion. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.

Francis was born September 19, 1930, in Cedar Rapids to Frederick and Olga (Topinka) Mally. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949. He met his future wife Glenys (Walsh) in California. They were married at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids in 1958.

Francis was employed as a welder at Cherry-Burrell for 37 years, and was a member of the UAW, retiring in 1988. Francis was a founding member of St. Jude Catholic Church, a dedicated volunteer at the annual Sweet Corn Festival, dressing as "Willy the Clown." He was also a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. A gifted artist, he won many blue ribbons at the Iowa State Fair for his paintings.

Francis was an aviation enthusiast and a private pilot. He enjoyed attending the EAA airshow in Oshkosh, WI with family.

Francis is survived by four children, Theresa (Dave) Morphew of Woodstock, IL, Kathy (Richard) Barta of Atkins, Steve Mally of Monument, CO, and Jeff (Michelle) Mally of Richland; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two siblings, Frederick and Rosalie Hensch.

Francis was preceded in death by Glenys; infant daughter, Dianna; and sister Marilyn Kessler.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at St. Luke's Surgicare, the Winslow House Care Center, and UnityPoint Hospice for their outstanding care.
