Obituaries : Raymond “Louie” Rouse

Raymond "Louie" Rouse, 76, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 12 to 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Park; round shelter house across from the hospital. Come as you are and share your stories and memories. Bring your own chair if you would like to sit out under the shade tree.

Raymond was born December 21, 1946, in Vinton, the son of R D and Dorothy (Fish) Rouse. He attended school in Vinton. He was drafted into the U. S. Army but had to return home due to the death of his father. Raymond was united in marriage to Rose Hurst at Stewart Memorial Church, Vinton. He was employed as a tuck pointer for several tuckpointing companies throughout the Vinton area.

In his leisure time, Raymond enjoyed fishing, bowling and watching westerns on TV. Being a resident of Frog Flats in Vinton, he and Rose loved hunting frogs and then enjoying the legs of their "catch".

Left to cherish Raymond's memory are his wife and best friend of 41 years, Rose; daughter, Dawn Gillmeister; three sons: Chad (Jen) Rouse, Kent Chesmore and Jason (Hydie) Chesmore; eight grandchildren: Trey, Cody, Astyn, McKenna, Cassie, Carli, Korrey and Joel; four great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Tina Fowler) Rouse; and two sisters: Diana Burke and LaDonna (Brian) Fairbanks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Warren Rouse;and sisters: Doris Kennedy, Linda Bray and Rose Lancos.

A memorial fund has been established.
