BEDFORD TX - Yvonne D. Turner, 87, died June 29, 2023 after a brief illness at Texas Harris HEB Hospital in Bedford Texas. She was born February 16, 1936 in Vinton Iowa, daughter of Glenn R. Healy and Dorothy Evans Healy.

A graveside memorial will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 11:00 am at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

Yvonne graduated from Washington High School in Vinton and attended Iowa State Teachers college, completing her education with a B.A. on Mathematics and an M.A. in Public Education at San Diego State University. She was the wife of a Naval Officer, raising five children and later teaching high school mathematics for 20 years with San Diego City Schools.

She married the love of her life, Delano, in 1956 and celebrated 59 years of marriage. They lived and raised the family in various locations including Monterey CA, Seattle WA, San Diego CA, and Newport RI before returning to San Diego for Del's retirement from the Navy. Yvonne started and completed her teaching career with the San Diego Unified School District. Upon retirement, she and Del moved to Myrtle Creek Oregon where Del and Yvonne raised miniature donkeys. She was active in her church, various choirs and community groups including the VFW, Safe Place for Kids, and the Douglas County Food Bank. She enjoyed travelling, visiting Hong Kong, Thailand, New Zealand and Europe, and lived in Taiwan R.O.C. for 18 months where she instructed military personnel in English while Del completed work with an international defense contractor. After the death of her husband, she relocated to Texas to be close to her family.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Delano, and son Christopher. Also preceding her in death were her two sisters, Fleur Benjamin and Thurla Healy, and brothers Glenn E Healy Jr. and Gene Healy. She is survived by her daughter DeeAnn, and three sons, Brian, David and Bradley, and 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

A graveside memorial will be held on August 12th at 11:00am at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Mt. Auburn Iowa.
