Jenny Whitson Vinton"”Jenny Whitson, 43, died Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home in Vinton. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 Thursday, November 17 at the First Christian Church in Vinton with Rev. Dave Neas officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, November 16. Burial in the family plot at Bear Creek Cemetery, rural Vinton. Jennifer Lynne Whitson was born September 27, 1973 in Vinton, the daughter of David and Diana Geiger Whitson. She grew up and attended school in Vinton, graduating in 1992. Jenny attended AIB in Cedar Falls. Jenny was a self-employed day care provider for fifteen years. She was an active member of First Christian Church, serving on several boards and committees. She especially enjoyed her involvement with the church youth program. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, fishing, camping, crocheting, watching Disney movies and spending time with her family. She is survived by her parents, Dave and Diana Whitson; her grandmothers, Oma Geiger and Hazel Whitson; daughters, Joy Beth and Kelsey Marie; sister, Jamie (Kevin) Timmerman; brother, Jeffrey Whitson and nieces, Libbie, Hanna and Kate Timmerman. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Earl Geiger and Don Whitson. A memorial fund has been established. Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home is caring for Jenny and her family.
