VINTON: Joyce Marie Grantham Bratten, 75, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at her home with her family by her side following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Vinton with Pastor Jared Cline officiating. Visitation will be from 9 until 11 AM ath the church on Thursday. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may register at the church one hour before service time.
Joyce Grantham was born September 29, 1940 at Crookston, NE to Henry and Olive (Detgen) Grantham. She graduated from Fairbank Wapsi Valley High School in Fairbank, IA.
A longtime member of First Baptist Church Joyce served as a deaconess and enjoyed working on the landscaping at the church.
For fifteen years she was employed as an IE Tech at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and later was employed at Theisen’s in the garden dept. She was a member of the Vinton Garden Club and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her children, Emil (Diana) Bratten and Brian Bratten, both of Vinton, Dawn Stoltenberg (David) of Newhall and Sara Cote (Ed) of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; her brother, Russell (Judy) Grantham of DeSoto, IA; and her sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Condry of Vinton, and Barbara (Glenn) Hodgson of Dubuque; and her sister-in-law, Clarice Grantham of Harcourt, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Robert (Karen) and Howard Grantham.
