Geraldine Seehase, 92, of Waterloo, IA, and formerly of Waverly, died on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA.

Gerry was born on November 8, 1923, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Laura (Degelau) and Edward Boedecker.  She grew up in the Westgate area, and graduated from Sumner High School. On July 8, 1946, Gerry, was united in marriage to Raymond Seehase at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Westgate, Iowa.  The couple farmed the Seehase farm until ill health required Raymond to retire in 1992, and they moved to Waverly.  Raymond passed away on July 25, 1995.  On June 16, 2012, Gerry was united in marriage to Donald Pearce at St. John’s Lutheran – Buck Creek, rural Sumner.  The couple made their home in Waterloo where they enjoyed dancing and attending the grandchildren’s events. 

Gerry was a member of St. John Lutheran Church – Buck Creek, rural Sumner. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, singing, dancing and polka music.  But most of all, she enjoyed time with family.

Gerry is survived by her husband, Donald; son, Roger (Bonnie) Seehase of Emily, MN; daughter, Eldred “Elly” (Jim) Fink of Vinton, IA; three grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; four step-daughters, Linda (Gordy) Ceaglske of Tamarack, MN, Sharon (Wayne) Vickery of Waterloo, IA, Connie (Pete) Kemp of Amboy, IL, and Diana (Jim) Myers of Waterloo, IA; two step-sons, Dan (Peggy) Pearce of Altoona, IA and Duane (Tamara) Pearce of Cedar Falls, IA; 48 step-grandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna (Don) Larson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; and brother, Allan Boedecker.

Funeral services to celebrate Gerry’s life will be at 10:30 am on Monday, June 20, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church – Buck Creek, rural Sumner, with Pastor Joel Becker officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.  Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church – Buck Creek, or Allen Hospice.  Online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.  Kaiser Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.
