Colleen A. Callan, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on June 14, 2016 at Emery Place, surrounded by her family. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Watkins, by Rev. Craig Steimel. Burial: St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery, Watkins. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
She was born on February 13, 1932, in Watkins to Alfred and Loretta Schmuecker. On November 21, 1953, she married Richard (Dick) H. Callan from Monti. They enjoyed farming near Watkins and after the death of her husband Dick in 1984, Colleen moved to Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by her children Ed (Sandie) of Shellsburg; Donna Callan of Pewaukee Wisconsin; Dan (Andrea) of North Liberty; grandchildren Chad (Jenni) Callan of Ankeny; Jill (Jeff) Lorimer of Cedar Rapids; Kelly Callan of Cedar Rapids; McKenzy Callan of Shellsburg and many more grandchildren and great grandchildren including Chad’s children C.J. and Cameron; siblings Virginia (Don) Becker of Van Horne Jim Schmuecker of Vinton and Ed (Sally) Schmuecker of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dick, her parents, sister Catherine (Bobby) Byrd, brother Melvin Schmuecker and grandson and great grandson.
She enjoyed working in the banking industry following the footsteps of her father Alfred J. Schmuecker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Colleen was a well-known seamstress who made all of her and her families’ clothes.
A memorial fund has been established in Colleen’s memory.
