Elsie M. Knaack

VINTON – Elsie M. Knaack, 90, died Monday, January 18, 2016, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Elsie was born January 30, 1925, near Newhall, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew Hans and Della Marie Schultz Jacobsen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton.
On February 2, 1946, Elsie was united in marriage with Glenn H. Knaack at St. Paul Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2000.
Elsie worked at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton for over 25 years.
She was a member and past Commander of the Navy Mothers. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Elsie is survived by her son, Terry Knaack of Vinton; daughter, Kathy (Keith) Erickson of Fort Pierce, FL; grandchildren Jeff Erickson of Fort Pierce, FL, and Jennifer (Nick) Hodgson of Port St. Lucie, FL; step-grandchildren Dee Alexander and Doug Johnston; and great-grandchildren Paige and Nicholas Hodgson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers: Clarence and Merle Jacobsen; and five sisters: Elfrieda Raymond, Luella Biram, Viola Kennett, Esther Lieb and Pearl Butts.
