Darlene Jabens
LA PORTE CITY – Darlene Helen Josephine Jabens, 86, died Friday, November 27, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo due to natural causes.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 3, at Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, Iowa, with Rev. Dr. Judith Bunyi officiating.
Darlene was born July 30, 1929, in Jackson Township in Benton County near Garrison, Iowa, the daughter of William M. and Greta Moller Jabens. She attended country school near her family’s home. She was a member of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed Elvis, word puzzles and playing cards.
Darlene is survived by one sister, Eva Ohlsen of Dysart, and her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hans Jabens; three sisters: Alvena Gross, Emma Schoonover and Leona Parizek; and two nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
