The Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stabbing at a residence at 204 6th Street in Van Horne, around 9 a.m. Monday, May 13. The stabbing was reported as a result of a domestic assault involving a male and female at the residence.

Investigation indicates that David Lee Nue, 43, of Van Horne was assaulting the female occupant of the residence when her, age 19 intervened with a knife to stop the altercation.

Neu suffered a minor knife wound to the lower right shoulder. He was treated and released from St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Two other family members were treated for possible minor injuries not involving a weapon.

Nue is currently being held in the Benton County Correctional Facility, charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, a Class D Felony. He is being held without bond.

Benton Community Schools in Van Horne went into temporary lock down status as a precautionary measure. The preliminary call indicated that the assailant may have left the residence with a knife.

Investigation is continuing by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

The filing of a criminal charge is merely an accusation and not a conviction of an actual offense.
