The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department will have their Tree Planting Day in the Community Parks on Saturday, May 11th. We are hopefully that we will have a beautiful sunny spring day on next Saturday to help us bring a little more closure on the Wind Storm of 2011.

The event will start at 8:00 a.m. at Riverside Park on that date and hopefully within a few hours we will be able to plant 40-50 new trees in our parks. These new trees were made possible by a grant that was received by Trees Forever & Alliant Energy Branching Out.

Volunteers are needed that day to help plant & mulch the trees. If you want to volunteer, show up that day with or without a rake or spade and we will put you to work. We have extra equipment, so all you need is yourself. All kids are welcome to come out and help.

If at any time you have any questions, give us a call at 472-4164 or stop by the Vinton Recreation Center to talk with one of our staff. Remember, you can always go online to find out what is going on at the VPRD at vprdzone.com.
