On April 17, 2013 at the Annual Volunteer Recognition several citizens and Veterans were honored for their volunteer hours at The VA Hospital In Iowa City. This ceremony was held at The Moose Lodge in Iowa City. A brunch was catered by HY-VEE for all the Volunteers which was sponsored by U.S. Department Of Veterans Affair, Iowa City VA Health Care System. The Volunteers attending This Event from this area were: Dale & Jeanette Henry-Vinton; Dennis & Karen Miller- Vinton;Ron & Carol Geiger-Vinton; John Gualtier-Vinton; Donald Roepke-Brandon; Tracy Sellers-Vinton. Those receiving Awards were: John Gualtier ---with 7,189 volunteer hours--received a certificate (been volunteering for 18 years) Ronald Geiger---with 1,557 volunteer hours-- received a certificate (been volunteering for 3 years) Dale Henry--- with 500 volunteer hours---received a 500 hour pin ( been volunteering for 2 years) Jeanette Henry-- with 100 volunteer hours-- received a 100 hour pin (been volunteering since July The accumaltive hours each year are from October 1 to September 30th. There were about fifty people who received either a certificate, plaque, or a pin for their volunteer hours. In the past year more than 97,000 hours were served to Our Veterans At The VA Hospital In Iowa City by Our Volunteers and their selfless service to our Nation's Veterans. Each day they assist this Health Care System in achieving The Goal of Making The Iowa City VA Facility a Choice and a Center of quality for our NATION'S VETERANS. Pictured in the group photo above:
