News : Fundraising Effort

At this point in our fund-raising campaign, we continue to make progress toward our goal, but still could use your help.

Please take a few moments to sit down with your checkbook and decided what you can afford to give.

As much as we'd LOVE to keep this completely FREE to everyone, there are some behind the scene costs that make this possible.

If we simply pass the hat each year, and everyone puts in what they can afford to, we will be in great shape to continue yet another year.

Each year we have hosting fees, and domain name registrations, not to mention visits to our ER where we call on Dr. McElwee to take care of our computer viruses or broken links, or whatever it is that the site has contracted.

There's a lot of behind the scenes panic that goes on when something like this happens. FORTUNATELY, we hardly ever have this happen, but when it does, well, you know how much it costs to go to the doctor these days...

At our annual check up, we discussed a wellness program for Vinton Today.

We called the doctor in, put the patient on the table and had Vinton Today say, "Aaaaaa."

When we started out, we didn't realize just HOW much information we'd be putting into the website.

Because of the volume of information we have, we have to make more changes to keep everything running smoothly.

It's been amazing to look at where we came from to where we are today!

When we first started out, we might have had close to a couple hundred email addresses to start from. We now have 5 times that many, plus!

We started out thrilled to get a few thousand visits to the site in a year and now we are averaging over 3 MILLION!!!

WOW!

We started with ZERO contacts on Facebook and are now well over a THOUSAND!!!

I know it's due to the great coverage we have, but I also know it's from all of you getting behind this and sending in that information! I quit counting how many folks we have that lend us a hand in this way.

Sometimes it's a one time thing, and others are real dedicated to keep us posted....thanks to EACH of you!

So folks, we're all doing something right!
