The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department unfortunately will have to postpone their Tree Planting Day in the Community Parks that was scheduled for April 14th. The weather has not cooperated for nurseries and that has caused us to push back the date to Saturday, May 11th.
The event will start at 8:00 a.m. at Riverside Park on that date and hopefully within a few hours we will be able to plant 35-40 new trees in our parks. These new trees were made possible by a grant that was received by Trees Forever & Alliant Energy Branching Out.
Volunteers are needed that day to help plant the trees. If you want to volunteer, show up that day with or without a rake or spade and we will put you to work. We have extra equipment, so all you need is yourself. All kids are welcome to help, also.
If at any time you have a questions, give us a call at 472-4164 or stop by the Vinton Recreation Center to talk with one of our staff. Remember, you can always go online to find out what is going on at the VPRD at vprdzone.com.
