Rickey Russell, an 8th grade student at Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School was recently awarded the Kirkwood Community College Access scholarship. Pat Gardner  of Kirkwood Community College presented the award at the final Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School Awards assembly on Friday June 4, 2010.  The anonymously funded scholarship provides one middle school student in each of the schools served by Kirkwood funding for an associate degree at Kirkwood Community College.
