Don and Gwen Eells are pictured here with the members of the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School (IBSSS) Mary Ingalls Society Board making the first donation to the group. Donations to the IBSSS Mary Ingalls Society will be used to promote and enhance the historical significance of the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School. One notable part of that history is the presence of Mary Ingalls as a student in the late1800’s. Plans are being made to have a Mary Ingalls Pageant in the summer of 2013 to highlight that connection. There are also plans to update the museum housed in Old Main, train Mary Ingalls re-enactors to lead tours, create a DVD introduction for tours and have display cases for the ledgers and grade books containing information on Mary for public review. The goal is to draw people to the beautiful campus, immerse them in its history, and have them leave happy with the experience and encouraging others to come.

The IBSSS Mary Ingalls Society is approved to operate under the umbrella of the Vinton Community Foundation. All donations are tax deductible. Donations should be made out to VCF/IBSSS Mary Ingalls Society and can be sent to P.O. Box 326, Vinton, Iowa 52349.

We want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Eells for stepping out and sharing in our vision for this jewel we have in our midst.
