Like many other Vinton residents, Rob and Nicki Ott of Vinton lost a large tree during the July 11, 2011, storm. And like many others, they have decided to preserve part of that tree by asking chain saw artist Brian Parr to carve a sculpture from what was left after the storm.

Parr recently completed a Chicago Cub statue, with the familiar blue uniform and the face of a bear. The Otts are baseball fans (and of course Cub fans, also).

KHV September 7, 2012, 6:51 pm I love all of these works of art around town. When my parents were visiting we drove around town to find as many as we could. They are Cub fans and would love this one! How many have been carved in Vinton?
dm September 9, 2012, 10:24 am I count 15 that I know of? That can\'t be moved. All the moveable ones like the bench at nicks apl. and all the small bears are to many to count.
