Benton County Conservation is hosting a volunteer workday, this Saturday, Sept. 8, outside the Nature Center (just west of Rodgers Park, or north of Highway 218 on 20th Avenue Drive). Projects under construction will be as follows:

Project 1: Log area for the outdoor classroom.

Project 2: Building of Leopold benches for the grounds.

Project 3: Sand down logs in our outdoor classroom area.

Project 4: Staining wood & painting an LP tank and prepare for artistic grass work on the bottom of the tank.

Project 5: layout landscape fabric and mulch in designated areas for butterfly & bird attraction areas.

Project 6: layout fire-pit ring block and adhere it down.

Project 7: Install the 4x4’s that will hold bird feeding stations.

Project 8: Replant the prairie plants from the deck planters to ground level to ensure survival in the winter months.

Project 9: Installation of solar lights on property.

We have many more projects ahead of us in the future, but we would appreciate any help possible on this day. The goal of this day, is to help get a jump start on the development of the nature center. We have a great educational tool at our fingertips and want to see it in action as soon as possible.

We hope to see a few of you on Saturday from 8am to early afternoon. Thanks for your interest.
