The Vinton-Shellsburg Education Association presented awards to the Teacher of the Year, Member of the Year and Friend of Education Wednesday afternoon at the Vinton Skate Center. The VSEA also honored 17 retirees who have more than 500 years of experience in education.

Duane Fisher, the retiring FFA/AG teacher, has been the VSEA President for more than 20 years. He was honored with the Member of the Year Award.

Librarian Pauline Elwick received the Educator of the Year Award. Long time Kathy Yoe was honored for her 30 years of service; she received the 2010 Friend of Education Award from the VSEA.
