It's not uncommon for people to drive past Brian Parr's house or his latest project and stop and stare at whatever he has made out of tree trunks

But on Monday, passers-by had a more unusual reason for rubbernecking: A giant foam fish on a trailer in front of Parr's home.

Parr built the fish as a prototype, with a wooden frame and chicken wire. He then had it covered with foam, which he carved.

The fish will eventually be covered in fiberglass and put on display at the Valley's Fish Market in Prairie Du Chien, Wis.

" We sure had a lot of folks slow down and look when it was at our house," says Brian's wife, Jennifer. who adds that she is not yet sure what Brian will work on next.

"The fish was built as a tourist attraction thing I guess," says Jennifer. "Brian thinks it would be cool if Vinton had stuff like that to attract people."

And even though the fish is headed to Wisconsin, at least one Vinton native is looking forward to seeing it there.

"Valley Fish Market in Prairie Du Chien is one of my favorite places," says Jess Rundlett. "It's a 'must-visit' for smoked sockeye salmon and smoked string cheese! I can't wait to see this fish there someday!"
