For years they were part of one of Vinton's most well-publicized successes, but now they are a heap of rubble.

The time-battered silos of the old Vinton Popcorn plant were demolished today, as part of the agreement between the city and the David TIffany, who was the owner of all of the property before transferring part of it to Curtis Roster a few days ago. Tiffany told the Vinton City Council that he planned to use the usable portion of the building into a shop building for his construction company.

Vinton Popcorn was a national favorite for many years, and also gained national promience in 1981 when Kathryn Koob, an Iowan who had been held hostage in Iran for 444 days, said on national TV that one of the things she was looking forward to was Vinton Popcorn.
