After a busy Tuesday afternoon in which three traffic accidents and a fire were reported in rural Vinton, Benton County authorities were called to assist at an accident at the Benton/Buchanan County line on Wednesday morning.

In the Wednesday accident, a van northbound on the gravel collided with a westbound dump truck at the intersection of 25th Ave. and Benton-Buchanan Road. Both drivers had exited their vehicles before officers arrived; both were taken by ambulance to the hospital. No further information is available at this time. 

Also, the Vinton Fire Department called the Sheriff's Office to assist at a Tuesday afternoon grass fire southeast of Vinton, where firefighters believe the fire was caused by an attempt to manufacture meth.
