Rick Primmer will challenge Terry Hertle for the District 2 Benton County Supervisor seat in the Nov. 6 general election. In District 3, which covers the southern areas of Benton County Republican Trice Smith will compete against Don Frese.
These four were the winners of Tuesday's primary election.
Primmer won a three-way race in the Republican primary. He received 336 votes, to 284 for Dick Meyer and 233 for Dave Redlinger.
Hertle defeated Vinton Mayor John Watson by a margin of 382-283.
Smith ran unopposed for the District 3 GOP primary. Frese defeated John Long by a 398-275 margin.
In races for the State Legislature, Shelley Parbs won a three-way race in the Iowa Senate 38th District primary. She will face incumbent Tim Kapucian in November. Sandra Cronbaugh will face incumbent Iowa House District 75 Rep. Dawn Pettengill; both ran unopposed Tuesday.
