A need in the community and a whole lot of teens looking for a project came together one dark and rainy Wednesday evening.
The non-profit group, Friends of the Shelter, Inc., recently purchased a building in downtown Vinton for a planned Pet Adoption and Community Resource Center (not a shelter).
The inside of the building needed to be painted and the 8th grade RE class from St. Mary's Catholic Church jumped at the chance to help. It was an absolute pleasure to see how many teens came to lend a hand and how fun and helpful they all were.
The sharing of the work load, the fellowship, and being part of something good that they can say they had a hand in helping is something we hope they always remember, not just with this project but with other volunteeropportunities they will have throughout their years.
We want to also thank Mrs. Howes-Vonstein for organizing this project and thanks to the other adults who helped. Thank you!!
