News : City Council elections: Three races have 1 candidate; none for 4th Ward

Vinton Mayor John Watson and two other people have filed papers for the November city election.

Second Ward incumbent Ron Elwick will seek re-election. Tami Stark is the only at-large candidate; incumbent Don Burkey is not running. Nobody will challenge Watson, whose office is up for re-election every two years. Council members serve four-year terms.

In the Fourth Ward, Lisa Vermedahl chose not to seek re-election. But nobody filed papers to run before the Thursday deadline. It is possible that the seat could be filled by write-in votes, or possibly by appointment until the next city election.
