A routine farm outing for an Urbana grandmother and her young grandson turned deadly when a cow attacked the woman, who later died of her injuries.

The victim is Jean (Jeannie) Fee, 60, of rural Urbana. On Saturday afteroon, Fee went to the pasture with her grandson, to feed the cows, when one of the animals attacked her. The boy was not injured; the Benton County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. Fee was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital, where she had been taken by helicopter.

Fee had lived on the farm with her husband James.

Friends described Jeannie as a recently-retired nurse. The Fees often traveled to Vinton to participate in an informal coffee group.
