The Vinton Public Library Summer Reading Program is under way, and the first big public event of the summer comes to Vinton on Monday, June 6th.

The Illinois-based Elsenpeter Marionettes puppet show team will have a variety of puppets during a show at the Vinton Skate Center at 10:30 a.m.

Children's Librarian Sharon Rhinehart said the event will give children a chance to see the Marionette style puppets. The show involves the audience, she said.

Bird magician David Cass is the next big act to come to Vinton as part of the Summer Reading Program. He will appear at the Skate Center on June 17. All events are free and open to the public.
