V-S FFA Celebrates Personal Growth at Pork BBQ Degree Ceremonies

On Monday, October 16th Vinton-Shellsburg FFA chapter and guests came together to honor all of the degree recipients, and new Discovery and Greenhand members.
Before the officer team started the meeting and degree ceremony, there was a delicious potluck catered by the Merchant family with amazing pulled pork, party potatoes and all of the foods the members brought in for the potluck. To start the ceremony, members got the opportunity to listen to the Northeast State President Annabelle Newton, who talked about her time in Vinton-Shellsburg FFA and all of the amazing memories and friends she has made in FFA, she also motivated members to try new things in and out of FFA.
Moving forward in the award ceremony the Vinton-Shellsburg chapter made history as they were able to hand out their very first FFA Discovery Degree recipients and recognize their three new Middle School FFA leaders: Gavin Sanders, Jameson Demuth, and Cole Birker.
Discovery Degrees were given to the following recipients: Abby McKenna, Breadon Enos, Cole Birker, Emilie Lowery, Gavin Sanders, Jameson Demuth, Katelyn Fleming, Kendalyn Appleby, Madeline Pingenot, Natalee Lough, Owen Schminke, Presley Waters, William Kreutner, Wyatt Shaver, Xander Meineke, Zoey McClintock.
Next for degrees were the Greenhand degrees which included: Ali Lutz, Amaia Sloop, Bri Dulin, Bridgette Castle, Brie Carolan, Callie Nosbisch, Ciara Dods, Conner Bridgewater, Eleanor Moen, Jackson Hansel, Jakob Becker, Jayden Sloan, Kade Sutton, Kalysa Cabalka, Kara Rollinger, Kassidi Brunssen, Kirsten Pettit, Kyler Messer, Landry Blackburn, Leif Allen, Levi Lutz, Maddie Medina, Raina Lough, Savanna Lloyd, Sophia Newton, Steven Rogers, Zane Helter, Zayne Maneke. Following the Greenhand Degree Ceremony, was the Chapter Degree Ceremony. Recipients which included: Alexa Henkle, Andrew Allsup, Ben Buhr, Ben McGowan, Brody Waters, Chloe Sanders, Cooper McClintock, Dallas Fairbanks, Kelcie Appleby, Wes McKenna, and William McKenna.
The last degree recognized at Pork BBQ was the American Degree. Emma Wiley, Emma Arnold, and Ethan Rollinger were the very honored three that will receive this award at National Convention.
