A former member of 4H, Erma Neve, of Vinton, had never entered a sewing project into the Benton County Fair. Ever. At a mere 91 years old, and with the encouragement of her daughter Peggy Cronk, she entered her "Days of the Week" towel set.

One of the judges commented, "Wow!! Outstanding, no extra threads, super job!"  Erma won a Blue Ribbon as well as the Reserve Best of Show for sewing.

She has made a set of these towels for each of her six children. As well as each of her 18 grandchildren. AND her 53 great-grandchildren. Now her 2 great-great grandchildren. She has also gifted a set to each of her sisters, brother and nieces, friends, and friends of her children. After sewing sets for all of these people, she continues to create the sets and has donated over 40 sets for various benefits and auctions

Having sewn more than 110 sets of these dishtowels, or 770+ dishtowels, of the Days of the Week, I would suppose that as the judge noted, she DOESN't waste thread on unsightly knots or shortcuts on the back of her work for sure!

Congratulations Erma!
