News : S&J Sanitation begins to deliver new Garbage and Recycling Carts across Vinton

In a bit of a mixup last week, J&R Sanitation had to remove the carts that they were collecting from a city lot that S&J Sanitation had reserved for the new carts. In a statement J&R Sanitation said, "Vinton residents we are still way behind from the breakdown on Tuesday and trying to pull carts. Cart removal was going well till the city administrator called and said the city was kicking us off the city lot where they pile snow …. That threw a big wrench in things, with being said please be patient and leave your carts out we are coming to pickup still."If you still have old J&R Sanitation carts at your house be sure that they are put out for collection.

S&J Sanitation our new garbage collector has been busy delivering new garbage and recycling collectors. Delivering into the evening on Monday night, the company is using a Penske truck to make the deliveries.

S&J Sanitation said, "Our new carts for Vinton have started arriving and all will be delivered this week. The carts are high quality and the team we hired to deliver them are the best! They travel the country and do a great job. Thank you to the delivery team and our great vendors that flew to Iowa last night to make sure all goes smoothly this week. We are proud to add Vinton to our growing list of communities we serve in our 56th year of a family-owned business that my Dad and a buddy started with a pickup truck in the evenings after working their full-time jobs at Amana Refrigeration. I'm hopeful my Dad, Mom and our amazing stepmom ,Madeline, are watching from Heaven and smiling that we are keeping the company they invested so much is still family owned and thriving!"

The first consideration of ordinance 1084, an ordinance amending provisions pertaining to solid waste collection fees passed the city council.

The proposed fees were as follows:

July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024 - $15.65

July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025 - $15.65

July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026 - $16.00

July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027 - $16.36

July 1, 2027-June 30, 2028 - $16.75

If you are in a duplex, or multi residence and carts have been delivered but there were not enough sets at your residence, you can call 319-642-3325 to let them know.

So keep an eye on the curb for new arrivals, be sure to get the old carts out for pickup this week!
