The attorney representing Tacoa Talley in the First Degree Murder charge of the Jodie Bevans, requested a change of venue on Monday. In the case of the State of Iowa vs. Talley, Tacoa, Judge Chad Kepros denied the request. Kepros said, "News reports which objectively and factually report the occurrence of the crime and the events surrounding the criminal proceedings do not give rise to the kind of inflammatory publicity which causes a substantial likelihood or prejudice in the minds of prospective jurors."

Samantha Faith Bevans and Tacoa Talley have both been charged with Murder in the 1st Degree under Iowa Criminal code 707.2(1)(A).

If convicted of Murder in the 1st Degree, the State of Iowa mandates a life sentence in the penal institution; without the possibility of parole.

Currently, the trial for Talley is scheduled for November 7, 2022 beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Bevans is scheduled to go to trial on January 23, 2023.
