On Saturday, September 24, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter worked with the Benton Community and Belle Plaine FFA Chapters to educate kids throughout Benton County on several different safety aspects. The members of the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter taught students about Grain Safety and Skid Loader Safety. The remaining members led students around to the different stations which included Semi/Tractor Safety, Animal Safety, 911 Emergency Call, Bike Safety, ATV Safety, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, and First Aid. Allie Kaut, Grayce McClintock, Kylee Kirchner, and Alana Fleming taught students about Grain Safety; Austin Noe, Andrew Pingenot, and Evan Lopata taught about Skid Loader Safety; the rest of the Vinton-Shellsburg Members walked around with students as group leaders. The Cattlemen supplied lunch, which consisted of a hamburger, chips, vegetables, and milk. Kids from all over Benton County attended the sessions that were in 15 minute increments. Vinton-Shellsburg FFA member and Grain Safety Teacher, Allie Kaut , said, "I had a great time teaching the kids about grain safety and competing with them with the grain bit tug-of-war." Overall the day was a great success and the FFA members had a great time teaching younger students about Ag related topics.
