    Victoria Humiston placed first in her Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest and was awarded $100 by the local VFW Post 8884

The local VFW post 8884 presented certificates to the essay winners in the Voice of Democracy Essay Contest. High school students were invited to participate and write on the topic of "America: Where do we go from here?â€� The Voice of Democracy is a script-writing program designed to give high school students the opportunity to voice their opinion on a patriotic theme, which is chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.   Students record their original 3 to 5 minute essay on a flash drive/email submission on the above stated theme. They submit their flash drive/email submission, a copy of their written essay and the completed entry form to the local Post/Auxiliary chairman. The flash drive/email submission must be in their own voice without music, special effects or background sounds. Songs and poetry are not acceptable. Students may not identify themselves in anyway. For the contest.

Victoria Humiston was presented with $100 and a certificate in the Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Competition.

Alerie Weber was also recognized with a certificate and a $50 check.

Athena McCauslin and G Qin Stephenson was awarded a $30 check.
