Mahailah Cruzen, age 13, of Keystone was killed in an ATV accident on Sunday evening. According to the State Patrol's report. The accident occurred at the intersection of 70th St. and 13th Ave. The ATV had left the gravel road to enter the highway. The 14 year old driver of the ATV, was traveling southbound on 13th Ave. when a 2003 Chevy Silverado approached the intersection eastbound on 70th St.

The driver of the Polaris failed to stop at the intersection striking the Silverado. The two girls were best friends. Mahailah's mom Michelle Hutson said of her daughter that she was, "the brightness to our day. She loved the rainbow. Never could pick one color. Loved bright colors. She was about 5 ft tall and had just started the 8th grade. She wanted to be a doctor and had a wonderful future ahead of her." Mahailah was born in Minnesota but has lived in Iowa for the last 4 years. "She was full of life, and we miss her dearly," said her mom Michelle.

The 14 driver, is injured and is still hospitalized. There has been no word on her condition.
