iVinton is being "built" as we speak. If you drive around the southern part of town you'll see orange flags all over the city right of ways, as well as other flags of yellow and white which are marking all of the underground utilities for the cable company to run the conduit that will house the fiber for iVinton.

There are several people working at boring and trenching the new conduit into the ground for our iVinton project. The boring has been going on in the north side of the street across from the Vinton Shellsburg High School, as well as areas between the skate center and Kiwanis Park. You can see the ends of the orange tubing peeking through the ground waiting to house the fiber that will hopefully run to all of your homes!

Don't forget, if you haven't yet filled out your site survey be sure to click here and have the conduit hooked up to connect your home. There is no charge or obligation to sign up for the service, but the advantage to connecting the conduit to your home is that it will avoid a further charge to you should you do it later... after the workers have left town. When that happens, it will be more complicated to hook your home up and could incur additional cost to the property owner. As long as you decide to sign up (and I have a feeling you're really going to want to do that) for a site survey, and let them run the conduit to your home, there won't be a charge for this service in the future.

The project should be announcing rates during the month of August. The plan for Vinton has been to not require a contract and give the residents the ability to choose just the services that they would like to use.

So for now, be sure to have the site survey done, and get your property ready for future service!
