I hesitate to write an article about the weather, I mean come on, that's like watching the weather reports while the reporter is standing out in a hurricane reporting that there are winds that will knock you off of your feet. It's nasty out there folks.   Now that I've said that, I'll tell you that if you live in the country, you will have some very tense maneuvering on your way to civilization. My silly mechanic thought that it would be too risky to drive my car to his shop today if I didn't have new tires put on. I mean come on, you can use them for a shiny mirror, what's the big deal? So after the kind neighbor plowed the drive, (thanks Okee) and I chipped the ice from yesterday off of the windshield I thought, I HAVE got to get to town before the next round hits. I saddled up my car and headed to town. Now before leaving there was one thought I had. No, two. This is stupid and I'm NOT going the direct route, that would be really stupid. The direct route includes 3 pretty good sized hills with drop off ditches and no shoulder. So I turned north to go to Vinton which is south.. I hit the Brandon-Mt. Auburn blacktop, and slid right across, yeah, me and driving in the winter is also not a good combination, So I gripped the wheel and drove on into Brandon, Fortunately, they had plowed the streets, so I had a bit of a breather as I inched through town. Taking the Brandon Diagonal at about 25 miles an hour, I was still white knuckling it to 150. Long story short-er-ish I made it to the tire place. A few hundred dollars later, I was smiling as I get into my now safe to drive car. I swear as I got in I think the car had been raised about 2 inches with all the shiny new rubber, (Thanks to John's Tire). So now I wait for the mechanic to take it to his shop and put on some shiny new tierods, or is it singular? I don't know. (Thanks Red Shed) Oh and are tierods shiny? All I know is that thanks to the folks in this town I will have a car that is ready for the rest of the winter. To all of the guys out there plowing (I don't know do we have any gals doing this yet?) thanks so much for what you do. All of us appreciate your work! Be sure to give these guys a wide berth if you meet them on the road! P.S. it's a good day for sledding!
