As a way of giving back to our local communities, Storey Kenworthy team members across the state are encouraged to nominate qualified non-profits and five organizations are selected on an annual basis as a featured non-profit. Instead of choosing a free gift as a thank you for a large order, customers may choose to have Storey Kenworthy donate to the featured non-profit organization. Lu Karr from Vinton nominated the Vinton Volunteer Fire Department after the downtown fire of 2018. She noted in her application the impact that volunteers have in small communities and the importance of support that they receive from the entire community. Karr, representing the local Storey Kenworthy office presented a check for $1113.00 to the Vinton Fire Department last week. Vinton Fire Chief, Charlie Garwood said this donation will help with much needed equipment for the fire department. Storey Kenworthy is an 80 year old family owned, Iowa company headquartered in Des Moines, with 11 locations across the state, including Vinton. The January and February featured non-profit is another Vinton non-profit, Operation Backpack. This program in the Vinton Shellsburg school district, provides shelf stable food to over 100 elementary students each week.
