The Cedar River is officially at flood level again, and Henkle Creek is also surging to higher-than-normal levels.
But the National Weather Service/USGS monitoring system predicts that the Cedar, currently at 17.33 feet (minor flooding stage) will crest overnight at 17.6 and be below flood stage by Wednesday afternoon.
Heavy rains in the area, including more than two inches reported in parts of the Vinton area, have contributed to high water levels that have had area residents watching the river banks and checking flood forecasts for the past several weeks.
