As the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons draw closer, members of the Vinton Police Department are teaming up with the Benton County Food Pantry in “Growing Awareness” about the need for generous donations to help meet the needs of Benton County residents.

Several members of the Vinton Police Department who don't normally grow and maintain mustaches are trying their hand at growing mustaches of different shapes and sizes as a unique way to direct attention to the Benton County Food Pantry during the month of November.

The Benton County Food Pantry is there for people during times of need. It often receives canned food items. The food pantry also accepts cereal, toilet paper, dish and laundry soaps, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste and brushes, paper towels, as well as other food items such as instant potatoes, peanut butter, and cake mixes.

People wanting to donate to the pantryshould call Sherry Crawford at 472-5521 or Dorothy Miller at 472-2125. Sherry and Dorothy are co directors of the volunteer group that staff's the pantry. Benton County Social Services assists their efforts.

After you have enjoyed viewing the variety of mustaches the Vinton Police Department has to offer, make it a point this Fall to drop off a generous donation at the Benton County Food Pantry.

The Vinton Police Department and the Benton County Food Pantry would like to thank you in advance for any and all donations.
