Over the weekend, Rod and Angie Moore held a grand opening celebration at the new home of Red Cedar Antiques on C Avenue across the street from John's Qwik Stop.

Then on Monday, their old location was torn down. Crews from D.W. Zinser have been demolishing buildings sold to the city through the FEMA flood buyout program, and the demolition of the old anqtique store coincides with the Grand Opening of the new one.

Red Cedar Antiques was one of the places impacted by the flood of 2008. Rod Moore said the thing he likes most about the new location is that it is on higher ground.

The building that now serves as the Moore's antique store was once a hardware store and a general store. The couple renovated the building, even restoring the wood flooring.

Moore said the new building offers more space for more items.

"We have a little bit of everything," he says. But when asked what his favorite items for sale are, Moore -- like many antique lovers -- says, "I can't sell my favorite things."

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, although the business will plan some extended hours on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons during the Christmas shopping season.
