The Vinton-Shellsburg Homecoming Parade took place at a new day this year, and the event survived the rain. The Homecoming King and Queen candidates had umbrellas at the start of the parade, but put them away by the end of the route. The umbrellas came out later, as rain postponed the Powder Puff game and forced the pep rally and coronation of the new King and Queen inside.
