The 21 candidates for Vinton-Shellsburg 2010 Homecoming King and Queen will be narrowed down to 10 today. The top five candidates for each King and Queen will be announced at 3 p.m. today. The 2010 King and Queen will be crowned during the pep rally Thursday evening at the football field. 

The Vinton-Shellsburg seniors spent an hour or so after school on Monday in downtown Vinton, engaged in the traditional Homecoming store front window painting. 

Most downtown stores now sport the names of many members of the VSHS Class of 2011, along with football images and hopes for victory against Marion in Friday's game. 

Below is the schedule for the rest of the week:

 

Homecoming Activities for 2010

WEDNESDAY:

·        Flashback/Opposite Day

·        Announce Top Five during pep assembly

·        Seniors will paint (whitewash) school driveways at 7:30 PM (more information for seniors coming later)

 

THURSDAY:

·        PJ/Toga (Seniors only) Day

·        Vote on King and Queen (9-12) during advisor

·        Parade - Line up on B Avenue between 4th and 6th at 5:30. Parade starts at 6:00. Parade route - 4th Street to 2nd Ave., 2nd Avenue to 21st Str. and on to the football field

·        Community wide pep assembly @ 7:00 pm @ the football field!

o   Pep Assembly with skits

o   Introduce King and Queen candidates and their parents.

o   Crowning of King and Queen

o   Powder Puff football game will follow with Seniors vs. Juniors

 

Friday:

·        Spirit Day (Black and Gold)

·        Pep Assembly (Short) - 2:55

 

Saturday:

·        Dance 8:00 - 11:00
