News : VS chapter earns many honors at NE District Convention

On March 12th, 2016, fourteen Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter Member participated in the Northeast District FFA Convention. At Districts, the Supreme National Chapter Awards and Academic Achievement Awards are announced. This year, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter was awarded with the Supreme National Chapter Award- with the chapter coming in first place in the state! Besides receiving such an amazing award, there were seven students who received their Academic Achievement Award. These students consists of the following: Jessica Alderson, Alyssa Bunge, Daisy Johnson, Grace Milroy, Sarah Siglin, Sydney Walker, and Keri Webster.

After announcing these different awards, the results from the CDEs were announced. The results include:

Greenhand Quiz- Shelby McDonald; Gold

Chapter Quiz- Jessica Alderson (2nd place), George Haefner (3rd place)- Gold, 1st Place team

Chapter Quiz Individual- Keri Webster; Gold

Treasurer’s Book- Sydney Walker; Gold

Secretary’s Book- Daisy Johnson; Gold, 3rd place alternate

Reporter’s Scrapbook- Jessica Alderson and Keri Webster; Gold, 1st place advancing to State

Chapter Website- Sarah Siglin; Gold, 1st place advancing to State

Chapter Program- Kelli Cox, Katie Isbell, and Sydney Walker; Silver

Ag Issues- Eric Henkle, Collin Henry, Brock Ortner, Grant Ries, and Kenyatta Yarbrough; Bronze

All of the teams that participated did a fantastic job! It ended up being a great day for the chapter and it’s members!
