News Trinity Lutheran Church attends Youth Gathering

On July 16, 2010, eight area youth and 3 adult leaders from Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS, Vinton, Iowa, set-off for Louisiana, to attend the National LCMS Youth Gathering.

The group joined other Iowa District East congregations in 3 charter busses, leaving from Hiawatha. New Orleans hosted the Gathering which incorporated more than 25,000 guests. The LCMS Youth Gathering was held from 7/16 to 7/21/10. 

The Trinity Lutheran Church, Vinton, attendees were:

Aaron Burkey, Hannah Cayton, Michael Hepker, Josh Inman, Sam Sauer, Beth Sauer, Brock Schmelzer, Kaley Womochil, Betty Cayton, Brett Caspers, Lesa Caspers

The Gathering presented many events, speakers, musicians, and entertainers all religiously encircling the LCMS teachings. The group attended these events each day to experience the Gathering occurrences at either the Super Dome or the New Orleans Convention Center.

Vinton LCMS Youth participated in a scavenger hunt, which resulted in creating over 13,000 Care Packages for New Orleans shelters.

On Tuesday July 20th, the Super Dome was the site for a joint communion, an event that included all 25,000 attendees which was a very spiritually up-lifting night – as was the entire Gathering experience!
